How To Store Belts

If you’ve found yourself in a situation where you have to use long term storage, you may be wondering about the best way to store certain items, to keep them in good condition. Expensive belts are an example of an item that need to be stored correctly, to prevent them from becoming permanently damaged.

In this article, we’ll provide expert tips on how to store belts over a long period of time, to keep them in great condition.

There’s a few methods for long-term storage of belts: laying them flat, rolling them, or hanging them.

1. Lay them flat

Laying your belts flat is one of the easier ways to store belts in the long term. You’ll need to lay them buckle-up on an even surface, and leave a little space around each belt to prevent them from becoming marked. The belt should be perfectly flat on its surface, and not curled or bending in any way. If you need to lay items on top of them, make sure that the items are light, and aren’t bending the belts in any way.

This is the easiest way to store belts over long periods of time.

2. Roll them

Rolling belts is a popular way to store them at home, and this works fine for long-term storage too. To complete the process, lay the belt on a flat surface with the buckle facing down, and roll them tightly from the bottom. The buckle will be on the outside of the roll once done.

To secure the roll, tie a piece of string around the circumference of the belt, and tie off with a secure knot to prevent the belt from coming loose while in storage.1 Once they’re rolled up, store them in a box, bag, or other container, making sure that they don’t have large amounts of weight on top of them.

It’s worth noting that cheap belts might not fare well when rolled for a long period, as the material may crack. When storing cheaper belts, it’s best to lay them flat, or hang them.

3. Hang them

This is the optimum way to store belts, as the material is allowed to remain in its natural position without receiving pressure from other objects. This technique is a little tricky for long-term storage though, as you’ll need to hang them from a wall-mounted rack, belt ring, or row of hooks, and will need to get the permission of the storage facility to install them.

If you’re given permission to add these, once installed, all you need to do is hang each belt from the metal buckle, being sure to give plenty of space between each belt.

Belts are one of many items that are tricky to store for long periods, but it’s easy when you know how. You can lay them flat in a large container like a suitcase, roll them up and place them in a smaller bag or box, or for the best results, install a wall-mounted rack, belt ring, or row of hooks and hang them up.
